"The 1st Veteran's Battalion was born quickly following the release of America's Army in July 2002. We came together as a group of mature adults who wanted a mature, team-oriented playing environment. Shortly after inception, we decided on a military only organization which not only allowed for great gaming, but a great veteran's support organization and sense of community. What started as an idea was quickly formed into the largest and one of the most respected gaming units in the AAO community.
Today, the 1st Vets has nearly 300 members. We have several members who moderate the official forums, many Beta-Testers, and have been accepted as a premiere member of the Anti-Cheat Guild. Our goal is not only to enjoy this great game, but to influence the future development of AAO. If you see us in game, we are always willing to lend a hand to any players and will quickly demonstrate teamwork and professionalism to accomplish the mission."
The 1st Veterans Battalion has adopted the same guiding principles as the U.S. Army. We have based much of our philosophy, structure and training on these core principles.

Sweitzer, who served as the Intelligence Sergeant for 2BCT, 3ID(M) during the intial invasion. He was wounded by a missile that hit his unit, causing an explosion that killed five and injured several others. Sweitzer was unconscious for four days. After regaining consciousness, he returned to his unit before being sent stateside for complications resulting from his wounds. He redeployed to Iraq from Jan 04 - Dec 04 as the First Sergeant for a special mission company operating in Baghdad.

Bronze Star With –V- For Valor
Heroic achievement while serving as vehicle commander, anti-armor platoon, weapons company, 2nd battalion, 1st marines, regimental combat team one, 1st marine division, in support of operation iraqi freedom 2 on 15 August 2004. While conducting a mounted patrol outside of the city of Fallujah Iraq, sergeant M03's section received a report the a truck transporting ten iraqi police vehicles had been hijacked. Sergeant M03 section immediately launched to intercept the hijacked truck and caught sight of it attempting to enter a known enemy stronghold within Fallujah. As the patrol neared the hijacked truck Sergeant M03 ordered his vehicle to speed past the truck and block it's escape. When the enemy dismounted the hijacked truck with assault rifles, Sgt. M03 engaged and killed 2 insurgents before being engaged with heavy fire from two enemy positions several hundred meters away. Disregarding his own safety, Sgt. M03 mounted the hijacked truck and drove it through a hail of gunfire back to friendly lines. Sgt. M03's initiative, preseverance, and total dedication to duty reflected credit upon him and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United Stated Naval service.
